Feeding and Harvesting Formula of DHA algae

Available from FPN

Our Technology Advantage

FBP and FPN have developed industry disrupting production methods that are linearly scalable - as the number of SPAGS installed grows, the production quantity grows. The pitfalls of traditional tall fermenters that add complexity in shear stress, air pressure differences, and heterogeneous biomass mix are avoided. To replicate a patent process after it has expired with no renewed R&D, has spelled failure for those who have tried to enter this market.  The production of sustainably produced algal sourced DHA oil and DHA rich biomass seems to have higher hurdles to achieve. FBP’s technology avoids all the traps of traditional fermentation bioreactors.

Zero Stainless Steel Production System

Modern medical and pharmaceutical production systems rely on stainless steel materials (like this image).  Our truly unique plastic production system does away with this expensive material requirement.  Stainless steel (especially corrosion proof alloy) is made in limited quantities in limited numbers of foundries around the world. Traditional bioreactor designs are over-engineered. Free yourself from the tyranny and expense of stainless steel.

Cost Advantages

Low CAPEx:

The material cost of the plastic tank is low, while the availability is abundant. Your production facility can be located practically anywhere that has access to electricity and water.

High Yield:

Heterotrophic algae can grow 20 times thicker than autotrophs, as long as necessary nutrients and oxygen are available. No need for race tracks, nor large ponds. This allows the production systems to be compact.

Competitive Raw Material Cost:

The primary raw material cost is the nutrient feed.  FPN has benchmarked and optimized high yields of biomass produced with its proprietary system.

Low Energy Cost Operation:

Contrary to conventional technology, FBP's use of  low air pressure and lack of mechanical stirrer, make this bioreactor system highly energy efficient.

SPAGS

(Plastic Airlift Fermenter)

Small Footprint

Unlike Green Algae farms that take up vast land and spaces, SPAGS are designed heterotrophic or brown algae cultures. SPAGS, the aerobic fermenter will produce culture that is 20 times denser than that of green algae.  Furthermore, this fermentation technology is not limited by the amount of available sunlight. Growth will be much faster.

The annual production of net DHA from a pilot plant like this can produce 20 tons of DHA rich extracted oil. Productivity is over 100 times per floor space than that of green algae. It grows like yeast;

the difference between solar sourced energy and using carbon as an energy source to fuel growth.
